Wow... I've been so slammed handling all of the end of the year work with my day job I haven't had much time to shoot or post! I have been spending some free time thinking about where I want my photography to go this year, what really inspires me and what I enjoy shooting.

One of the first things I am hoping to get done this year is to get a new blog going. I have not liked the navigation and options that I am limited to with classic Blogger... and rather than put energy into promoting this site into Blogger Templates I am going to move into a nice Wordpress blog with lots of options for categorization / tagging, searching, and navigation.

I am also going to be spending more of my photography time working on some of the more challenging personal project concepts I have jotted down over the past couple years. Many of them are going to really push me creatively and especially on the production side. I am very excited about this!

Other than that... we'll just have to wait and see what else is in store! I wish you all a very Happy New Year and as always, appreciate you stopping by!

These are concept images from a recent collaboration with The Shimmy Sisters, and I was very pleased with how they turned out. And if you don't count singed hair and minor burns (you rock Gabriel!)... there were no serious injuries during the shoot ;-) There are some more images that we took in the studio I'm hoping to post soon... stay tuned!

Finally getting around to posting some more of my personal selects from the Kicker shoot in Las Vegas... soo many fun images. BTW, I recommend you make your way over to the Kicker Store and pick yourself up an iK500... it's been blowing our eardrums out!!! We can't believe so much sound can come out of this little bad boy. Santa Anas vs. Herniated Disks

The Santa Anas showed up this week out here making for some hot colorful days and cool clear nights. Susanne and I stopped by the beach today to catch a couple rays and I brought my camera out. Normally, I would have gone surfing... but a bad back has kept me out of the water for the longest time since I started surfing back in 1986 (4 months so far)!

Needless to say, I did get some great enjoyment out of crawling around in the sand taking some really shallow depth-of-field images of the shoreline. Getting dangerously close to the water with my camera gives a pretty cool perspective to the tiny waves on the inside... and having a full-frame sensor is always nice for producing that cool looking vignette in the blue sky.

Tell me that you locals got out this weekend and enjoyed this amazing weather in November!

The Kicker shoot in Las Vegas was CRAZY fun! We ended up shooting 9 very cool athletes in 5 very short hours... but everything flowed smoothly. Thanks to Tom over at Kicker for coordinating with the athletes and helping with my gear (you got that reflector down man!). Here are 3 quickies hot off the press... keep your eyes peeled early next year for these and others to hit the stands. I'll likely be posting some more here and on my portfolio site shortly.

Wow... what a treat it is to be blogged about on the PocketWizard product blog! For those of you who don't know about PocketWizards, they are wireless triggers that allow photographers to fire flashes remotely. For those of you who are photographers that enjoy using off-camera flash and don't have a PocketWizard... I HIGHLY recommend them! I just got back from an assignment shoot in Vegas and I really put these things to the test! I must have dropped each of them about 50 times... smashed them in my pocket while lying down for shots... switched them from camera-to-light-to-camera all day long... these things can take a good beating. Anyway... check out the post here!

So I'm off to Vegas tomorrow for an advertising assignment for Kicker! The schedule is pretty tight, and I'll be shooting a handful of professional extreme sport athletes for an upcoming marketing campaign. I'm really pumped... and just finished packing some gear to take out, so I thought I'd grab a shot of it for those of you interested in what I'm using. Wow... I really suck with a point-and-shoot, but you can get the point ;-):

Assignment: Encuentros

Encuentros is a non-profit Latino outreach program aimed at reducing the drop-out rate among Latino boys through mentoring. I was surprised to find out that nearly 40% of Latino boys do not graduate from High School... and there are more young Latinos in Prison than there are in college. Encuentros is doing great things... and I enjoyed helping them raise awareness for this amazing cause.
Here are a handful of the images from the day... which will serve as print & web collateral for the organization.

In the time that I have been shooting pictures I had yet to do a planned out shoot with Susanne. Sure, I snapped a few here and there... caught her going out the door and grabbed a quickie pic in the studio. But never something where we had taken time to go somewhere and shoot. Until now! We headed out last Saturday near sunset to make use of the nice light and I finally got what I knew were going to be great pictures of my beautiful wife! Thanks Sus.... let's do it again sometime.

I'm really excited to announce a new site in the works! Until now, this blog has served as both a journal for my photography and a pseudo-portfolio of my favorite creative images... and has worked just fine for the passionate hobbyist that I am. Unfortunately, the journalistic format of blogs don't cater very well to showcasing what I consider to be my all time favs... without good image organization or search features... and image size limitations.

I'm piecing it together with a very demanding work schedule... but I hope to have it up and running soon. Once it's live, http://aarondressin.com will direct you to a Splash page with links to my site, and this blog (which I will continue to update as my journal and offer sneak peak posts to clients).

4th of July Sailing

Susanne and I spent a good majority of the 4th weekend on a 40' sailboat with a group of friends and I can honestly say that, after living here for most of my life, I saw this amazing city from a whole new perspective. We sailed from the San Diego harbor up to Mission Bay, where we picked up some more friends. From there we cruised around the various inlets and headed back out to sea for some more sailing. We ended up getting up early to watch the Sun rise over the downtown skyline. It was a very relaxing break and a great way to celebrate Independence! I did break the camera out for a few:
